What is a Governess and what are their responsibilities?
A governess is a credentialed teacher or candidate for their masters in teaching. There focus is on the full-time or part-time education of school-age children. A governess may also be the Nanny to the children. A Governess’s primary responsibility is the education, physical, emotional and physcological well being of the children
How much housework can I expect a Governess to do?
Other persons are hired to perform the household chores in a household. The Governess is not a laundress, housecleaner or cook. In some cases, you may find a Governess who enjoys cooking and will cook for the household in addition to their childcare duties. It is rare to hire a Governess who will clean in addition to tutoring the children.
What is they typical salary range for a Governess?
Governess wages vary across the country. The weekly wage assumes an hourly rate of $20 to $35 per hour for a 40 to 45 an hour work week on an hourly or live-in position. Benefits are also offered which include housing, paid vacation, medical benefits and other perks.
